I have attached a couple of photos showing the crescent moon and the Pleiades from the 2005 conjunction and also an interesting shot of the sun as it travels through the sky over the Italian countryside during the winter solstice.

The book I referred to was "The Sirius Mystery" by Robert Temple (ISBN-10: 089281750X). It is a good read and questions how the Dogon Tribe in N. Africa knew about the Sirius (The Dog Star) binary system through their mythology stemming back to the ancient Egyptians. A new theory is that our own sun is in a similar binary system which may account for the four Ages of Mankind (The Vedic Yuga Cycle) and the Hopi Creation legend. Our companion sun is on a highly elliptical orbit and at the Apoapsis (farthest point in their orbits) corresponds to the Dark Age and at the Periapsis (closest point in their orbits) corresponds to the Age of Enlightenment when the electromagnetic influence of the combined suns has the greatest effect on consciousness.
